Vadodara lad attempts to break world mehndi record! TNN   Jul 21, 2013, 03.30AM IST VADODARA: Why should girls have all the fun? A city lad  DeeshitSalat  is all geared up to register his name in both the  Guinness World Records  and  Limca  Book of Records with world's longest  mehndi  marathon . The existing world record is held by an Ahmedabad girl Dipti Desai, who in 2011 had set a record of applying mehndi on 140 hands (70 people) in 24 hours 45 minutes. With a dream to break this record, Salat started from Saturday morning and is attempting to set a record of applying mehndi on the hands of 200 to 300 women in 28 hours at a stretch. As Salat (24) started his marathon bid for  the record  at Kalyan Prasad Hall near Mandvi from 8am onwards, there was a curious queue of women wanting to get their hands decorated with the herbal mehndi , which came free during the ongoing Gauri Vrat. I posted an invite for a talk on World Environment Day and came back a reply from USA that in India there is NO Point because people ONLY TALK but DON'T ACT !  During search for the talk I realised that 30% eatable food is Wasted in USA and 32% in UK Households and annually 1.30 Million Tonnes of food goes to waste which is the amount produced by sub-S aharan Africa!  Daily 20000 children are dying o f HUNGER and we waste so much of food globally and the solution I am so happy to attach here is NOT from Governments , United Nation or MBAs or PhDs but our OWN SIX SIGMA Dabbawalas of Mumbai . Do see the Video .I guarantee it will be some of the BEST 2 minutes spent by you .Caring by SHARING is so much appreciable and the FACT that people WITH PROBLEM with OPEN MIND and A BURNING DESIRE to SOLVE it ARE THE REAL innovators and that has NOTHING to DO WITH DEGREE or LITERACY !  My heartfelt SALUTES to the unassuming Dabbawalas of Mumbai and their social service !
